Joseph Shiman III, CFP®
Managing Partner, Certified Financial Plannerâ„¢
Joe is fired up to bring the best of himself to his clients. Known for his energy, patient listening, hearty laugh, leadership and love of all things finance, Joe realized his dream in January of 2019—successfully opening his own wealth management company.
Personally providing the best service experience, while maintaining a long-term genuine relationship, are paramount to Joe. He collaborates with top-level professionals in the industry, pushing himself to thoughtfully consider new technology, programs and services—only where it adds value to his clients’ lives.
Joe began his career at Tower Square Securities, Inc., the Broker Dealer for The Travelers, which was later acquired by Citigroup in Hartford. He spent several years as a sought-after resource to advisors throughout the country, assisting them with plan design and industry research.
The desire to work directly with clients led him to an insurance agency in Avon, CT. During the next sixteen years he gathered invaluable market experience, became an equity partner and key manager in the overall firm, leading and growing the wealth management team. Over these years, it became apparent that his passion was for investment planning, and nurturing relationships with the clients that had become very special to him.
Joe has served on the Board of the Avon and Simsbury Chamber of Commerce and is now a member of the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce. He led the Avon COC student job shadow program and plays an active role raising funds for hospice on the McLean Foundation Golf Committee. He served as the president of Hop Meadow Country Club from 2016-2019, overseeing a successful multi-million-dollar outdoor patio and dining addition which created a surge of new membership and greater enjoyment throughout the entire membership. Through Shiman Partners, he looks to support local non-profits which serve to better the environment, provide employment opportunities, reduce food insecurity, and provide health support services. A cause close to his heart—Joe annually supports men’s health through the Movember Foundation, organizing an annual golf tournament and partnering with local businesses to raise awareness and funds for this important mission.
Joe is married to his wife of 20 years, Jennifer, and has three children, one heading to college this Fall and two others attending Simsbury schools. He coached girls’ soccer for many years and served on the little league board of directors as a division manager and coach. For enjoyment, Joe loves running—especially the annual Manchester Road Race--golf, surfing and paddle tennis. He and his family are active parishioners at St. Mary’s Church in Simsbury.
