Joseph Shiman III, CFP^®

Joe Shiman founded Shiman Partners in 2019, a boutique wealth management company in West Hartford, to realize his dream of walking alongside his clients, providing them with a true partner as they move through various phases of financial need. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) serving in the industry for 30 years.  
  
Joe moves beyond the numbers to learn his client’s interests, family, hopes, fears, necessities and vision of what a successful retirement looks like. He is there when the markets roar, but more importantly, the first to reach out when volatility threatens to shake a long-term plan. 
  
Like the air pressure he regularly checks in his tires, he meticulously considers which technology and financial platforms he partners with, checking they meet the highest standards of industry compliance and security. He collaborates regularly with like-minded professionals to stay on the forefront of best practices and regularly attends economic seminars. 
  
Joe began his career at Tower Square Securities, Inc., the Broker Dealer for The Travelers, which was later acquired by Citigroup in Hartford. Working in the “back office,” he became a sought-after resource, assisting financial planners with plan design and industry research. The desire to work directly with clients led him to an insurance agency in Avon, CT, where he became an equity partner and key manager in the overall firm. 
  
Joe serves on the board of the Duncaster Foundation and has served on the Board of the Avon and Simsbury Chambers. He served as the president of Hop Meadow Country Club, overseeing a successful multi-million-dollar outdoor patio renovation. Through Shiman Partners, Joe supports local non-profits including Gifts of Love, West Hartford Food Bank, Levo International, Journey Home CT, McLean Hospice and more.
  
A cause close to his heart, Joe annually supports men’s health through the Movember Foundation, organizing an annual golf tournament and partnering with local businesses to raise awareness and funds for this important mission. His efforts have led him to become one of their top fundraisers in the country. 
  
Joe is married to his wife of 25 years, Jennifer, and has three children--an electrical engineer grad from Villanova, an economics student at Villanova, and a senior at Simsbury High School.  He coached girls’ soccer for many years and served on the little league board of directors as a division manager and coach. For enjoyment, Joe loves running, golf, paddle tennis and surfing--a day of catching the waves with his kids topping the list. He and his family are active parishioners at St. Mary’s Church in Simsbury.
